Luther & Theo Update

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Saga continues today. Tank scheduled for delivery today. Took day off. Freight elevator broke down.

Well you pbass guys and gals need to tell me if you ever saw this. Today I fed frozen peas to the oscars and Luther ate some. He grabbed one real quick and swallowed it down. After he swallowed it I plopped another and he ate that. Is this a first for pbass?

Pbass will try to eat anything that hits the water, so no surprise there, especially when it can see the oscar eating it. Peas don't really bulk up piscivores/carnivores. Personally, I wouldn't feed peas to pbass or oscars intentionally.

Do you have Peacock Bass? Luther generally eats anything. But I do understand his digestive system is designed for primarily eating fish.

So before I moved fish to a larger tank I had to decide whether I would keep Luther and Theo together. Luther had not been picking on Theo for about a month and Theo was constantly by his side. Theo is getting bigger and more aggressive. She swipes at the oscars at times. I think it's mostly because tank is crowded.

So last Saturday I moved the fish including Luther and Theo. My wife and I were really happy as Theo was right by her man and everything was great. Oscars playing. All eating like pigs. Life was god.

Then today I heard a splash. Mr. Bipolar (Luther) was at it again. She hit the cross bar. When he gets like this Theo stays in an upper corner until he calms down and then she is back. Right by his side.

So I decided to move here back to the other tank. Only other fish the 3 SD's, one geo and a pleco. We will see how she does. Luther is starting out the window looking at the ocean.

Ugg. That didn't work out. Theo ate first day but not afterShe spit out her food.
So I would need to starve her to get her to eat. She would swim around but hid behind the plants often.
So I moved her back in with Luther today.
She is right by her man. She is so happy. And she ate well tonight.
