Not a species normally kept in aquaria. Growth rates are variable to environment it's maintained in. The less salinity or temp, the slower the growth rate. Normally a harbor species so, initial quarantine is essential to rid the fish of intestinal, dermal, and gill parasites. Feeds on almost anything thrown at it (fish, snails, shrimp, crabs, worms, cephalopods, etc.). No idea on aggression in aquaria (different species or conspecifics). In the wild, young specimens tend to shoal. Temp must be variable since the species is found from Maine to Brazil.
