Awesome pike! Have you had it long?

He is looking simply amazing! :D Gotten it to eat anything yet? Awesome man! Just awesome!!!

Check out those pseudocanines! Crazy! That pike definitely has some chompers!

Nice! I haven't seen those around in a long time. I had a pair a few years back and as long as they couldn't see each other it was all good but the second the male caught sight of the female, it was on. The male was at least 12" and the female was a measly 6" but every year, starting in late Oct, early Nov she'd take on a brilliant red color in the soft part of her dorsal. This would last until about March and then she'd be a brown log again. Beyond that however there was never any breeding activity. The female eventually jumped out of the tank while being chased by the male.

Even at 12" the male really had no interest in other tankmates as long as they didn't fit in his mouth. He really wasn't aggressive per se, but he certainly didn't take any crap either.

I eventually had them eating most any frozen food but they seemed to especially like krill. Overall they were one of the easiest to keep pikes I've ever had.

Thanks Jeremy, I really like him, too!!
He has not eaten yet, but I am going to offer him some very small live minnows to get the ball rolling. From there he should switch relatively quickly to frozen/freeze-dried foods I hope!

Thanks Mark, I am really excited to have him. For now he is in with the new group of multispinosa that I got from Jeff. He flares a lot but they run from him. He just sits in the same spot and looks around with those dorsally situated eyes waiting for something of suitable size to swim by (I think). Thanks for your info on them, I'll keep ya'll posted as to how he's progressing.

Cheers,
--Brian
