Lyonsi or Cuban

To me it seems as though the Lyonsi and Festae are very closely related and only the land changes then evolution since are the difference between the two. Probably why Festae can breed with centrals still.
I love them both and would love to keep either one.

Me too. This will be the last cichlid I purchase. Pretty contempt with the 2 125s and 3 75 gallons.

Having kept all 3 , I´d have a very hard time deciding, although I suppose tap water type might be a determining factor,
lower pH would be better for lyonsi depending on location variant (a Panamanian variant prefering and evolved to live in a higher pH).

None of the 2 play particularly well with others, but as a solo, that´s mute.


For festae tank size would be a definite determinng factor, even for a solo male.
