Can't decide what to get to go with my JD (6") and GT (Juvie). I'll be ordering from Rapps either way.

Will be getting a few of them as Juvies to grow out a bit with the GT before adding the JD, so I'll be weeding out the ones that don't get along.

Tank is 100 gal with a 50 gal sump (way overfiltered and can go over 10X turnover if I choose to do so).

Just can't decide. I love both fish. Might be leaning twords the Lyonsi right now, but it changes every day.

Only thing is.....Carpinte look kind of like JD. So maybe I should go for the Lyonsi just to have something different in there.

get rid of the jd and get the lysoni and carpintis

:nilly:I thought about that.....

What I may do is just get 3 Lyonsi and 3 Carpinte Escondido, and see what happens.

Anybody want a JD?

But I do like my JD. He eats from my hand, and swims up to the front of the glass anytime people are within 5 ft of his tank. He'll even stare at me when I'm about 15 or 20 feet away (he knows who feeds him). Super nice fish. Not sure I can get rid of him.

Plus.....He tries to bite my wifes cats through the glass :grinno:

ZZ? What type specifically?

I've been thinking about setting up a FH tank recently. Yours looks pretty nice. Where did you get him from, and do you know of any good dealers/breeders around in the US?

I've been having a lot of trouble finding anyone that has anything good FH wise around here (midwest). They just have generic FH juvies and have no idea what they are. They look at me like I'm crazy when I ask what type of flowerhorn they are. I think they assume flowerhorn are just flowerhorn.

I'd really like to find a nice malay golden monkey, but doubt I'll be able to.

Sorry, that's really off topic. Back to Lyonsi vs. Carpinte.

I don't see enough Lyonsi. So that's my vote. They are beautiful cichlids and their endangered status makes them very worthy of good breeding projects (not that you have to do this). I don't really care for JDs.

This will not be a breeding project. It's my show tank in my living room.

I am leaning twords the Lyonsi pretty hard now. It's rare, there's none around here, and I like that it's like a mini less agressive trimac with more color.

Doesn't really help the argument that you can catch carpinte in the south on rod and reel.....kind of makes me feel dumb for paying good money for a fish that someone can catch down south for free. But it is a gorgeous fish. Maybe I'll have one later on in life.
