Quick update: The pair is spawning now! I will be removing the eggs this time. I'll let you guys know what happens.
Good call! I pulled some eggs and left some behind for the female to raise. Well, for the first time she has a lot of wrigglers that she is protecting. It's pretty funny how it worked out. Every time I leave the eggs, she eats them. Now after I remove some, she decides not to eat them. I have a smaller batch than the one she is guarding. There's not much to look at now so I will post some pics of mom and her fry in a few weeks.... and then after you remove some eggs, the pair will raise the rest on their own
:-]
Best wishes.
Well, the female has been doing a really good job with her fry. The male could care less and that's probably the reason the female chases him away. Here's a short video of some of the fry in her care. There turned out to be much more than I thought. The fry go in an out of a piece of driftwood as they forage on algae and bits of NLS pellets.

Thanks! It took me a while to have a successful spawn. I hope it goes much easier for the pair from now on. Good luck with your excellent pair too. You're one of the main members that got me interested in keeping Lyonsi.nice job..i'm jealous of you right now. I can get mine to spawn for the life of me.....
Thank you! Your Lyonsi look fabulous! I find it interesting to watch how the fry interact with each other and with their parents at such a small size. The pair have already started breeding behavior again. I'm not sure if they will tolerate their current fry if they spawn this soon. I'll have to keep an eye on things just in case I have to remove the rest of the fry from the tank.Congrats on the spawning, the fry look like they are doing well. I fed mine NLS pellets (ground up) as well...
