I have 4 F1 lyonsi, and 4 tomocichla sieblodii, the sieboldii are about 3" and the lyonsi are between 5-6". The sieboldii had a brood they were raising when I purchased them. And the lyonsi have spawned once before but ate the eggs. So I'm sure I have at least one male and one female of each. Currently they are growing out in seperate tanks. I would like to add them together in a 5' 120 gallon tank. With both species getting around 10" at adulthood, I would think they would be ok. But before I do things I like to ask around on the forums to see what others think. So what do you think? Does it seem plausable to you? Thanks for shareing opinions on this.

I found while doing research that these two species come from the same water system (rio coloradito) in the wild. That was the insperation for getting them and housing them together. I will probably pull out the extra sieboldii that are not in the pair, and possibly keep one of the "extra" lyonsi after a pair has been formed, probably an additional female. So final stock would be 2 sieboldii, and 3 lyonsi. Probably run a ehiem 2180, I have one on my 180 and I love it.

Anybody else? Anyone see any issues? I just don't have any experiance with either of these fish and I have read a bit about them (well as much as I can find). I just want some first hand experianced people to let me know of any issues they might forsee. You know what would be great? If someone has kept these two together before. Probably not though.

From what I have read that is the typical max size.... but I have read on 2 accounts of an almost 11 inch male, so.... I guess maybe a little bigger. But as the standard from the info I have found 10".

Thanks, and I hope it does work out.

yes i like the whole biotope, naturally found together idea.sorry i can not add more, seiboldi get how big? from what i read lyonsi are not high on the aggression scale.i say try it and be ready to rehome anyone making problems.don't know if it's possible but maybe add swordtails if they are part of their usual habitat,or another dither maybe
