Great Photo! But tell us more!

What do you keep it with? How does it feed? Does it interact with the fish? How much time is it active? Does it swim fast? Haha, I've been interested in them for a long time, but havent been able to get one yet.

He (she?) is in my 75 gallon with haps/peacocks. The eel and the fish don't really seem to pay attention to each other, although the other day I added a rubber lip pleco and the eel attacked it, thought he might kill the pleco but he finally gave up and left it alone after awhile.

During the day he just kind of hangs out in the holey rock, he is usually visible but not active. At about 9pm he comes out whether the lights are on or not, and he swims around. He can be quite fast.

So far he only eats bloodworms, I have been trying to get him to take NLS pellets but havent had any luck so far. I have an glass bottle that I let the bloodworms thaw in, then I just put it on the bottom and he gets inside and eats. I feed him 1 thawed cube every other day.

Excellent idea, great way to get food to a less aggressive eater. I would have never thought of that. I'll probably try that with my eel.

I've seen them listed on Aquabid. Other than that, I've not seen them on many lists.

It took mine a while to understand the concept of the bottle, but he has it down now.

What is your water ph and hardness? My lfs had the species you have and has another type of african eel, Mastacembalus elipsifer. I really want to get it but I don't have the tank space right now but in a month or so I will. Besides the bottle technique for feeding, do have any other tips?
