My little guy is worrying me, most of the time he is swimming around fine, but sometimes he is laying around sideways. He has been doing this laying down sideways every since I put him in the bucket last night. I think I have stressed him out.

Here is my new safer setup. I have drilled the hole and plumbed it to my sump, and setup a siphon to drian into the bucket. Also hooked up to a spray bar to create circulation and agitation. The water isn't as dirty as it looks I just knocked some dirt in the bucket, I have since cleaned it up. Sorry for got to rotate the bottom picture.

Just in case you wounder, The siphon line is 1 inch bellowwater level, so in a power outage the main tank wont empty.

Ahh the buckets dirty again, then I figured out why, its has to be from teh driftwood and free floating algea in the main aqarium. I moved this downstairs to my planted aqarium so I could hook it up like cassharper suggested.

The white bucket really shows the quality of the water, looking at my tanks I new they where a little cloudy, but never knew it was yellow.

He died.

I didn't think I would need to cover the drain since it was to small for his body, well he forced himself about 1/4 of the way in and got stuck while I slept.

that really sucks man, sorry to hear that. For future reference you could shove a piece of large pored foam in it, or silicone some plastic matting (called plastic canvas)

I should have known better I just didnt think he would force his way into the tube.

Sick fish do what we think are weird things. It may have been trying to follow the water flow.

It was my favorite Gourami.

I feel so bad like I failed him when I was only trying to help; I should have put in a screen on the drain like the rest of my filters.
