Even though just a juvie, it makes the full grown Astyanax seem small.
But since the world record, caught in next door Costa Rica, is @ 9LBs, it will one day soon, need to be returned to the river it was caught in, Las Maragitas, a tributary of the much larger Mamoni.
The pH here averages 8 and above, water is hard, and has undetectable nitrate, as an adult, it become mor and more vegetarian.

Much like the tiny Rabalo (Centrpomis) fry that was caught the other day in the same river.
This 2" (5 cm) fry , will one day ht this size.
