macked pbass

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
their diet now is strictly live....I have resorted to a new method ...1 due to cost(I can get live adult fathead minnow very cheaply from a distributer....and 2 I can bulk the minnows on plankton and spirulina before feeding(a weeek long quar. and bulk feed to the minnows before feeding to the bass). They were on a market shrimp diet from 6-7" untill 12" then I converted to this method to approx 200 live feeders a day.

Holy cow man! That is intense. Do you have huge tanks for your feeders as well? I assume your fatheads are intended as fishing bait. Do you think that for a person with only a couple cichla it would be better to use fatheads from a baitshop in a method similiar to yours but on a smaller scale or just stick with prepared foods if they will eat it?

They grow so fast. I remember seeing a lot of smaller cichlas there a while back.
Now the numbers have gone down but look how big they have gotten.

The fatheads I get come from a hatchery dist center...so they are disease free already...I have 2 60gallon holding tanks with a cheap chiller and only aeration no filter(they are replaced every week so I simply do a complete water change and add salt before next batch arrives)....if you are only dealing with a few bass and they are not huge...market shrimp is alot easier...buy it freeze it..thaw it ...feed it:thumbsup: no hassel and clean.

Forgot to ask, have you still got all the cats in there, or whats gone?
I still have all the cats, except I sold the 28" jurunese to a friend and sold all my temensis, approx 8 ocellaris, and 3 other pbass:naughty:

That is a sick tank!!!!!!!!
You have one of the best looking pbass I ever seen.
:headbang2 :headbang2

just like the tems I will have to sacrifice eventually and thin out again...it is nice having so many types ect but eventually(due to size) you have to pick favorites and let some go...I will utimately dedicate that tank to a single pair of adults...I would rather have two freight trains in there happy than a slugfest:thumbsup:

Simple solution......get more, larger tanks!:grinyes:

excellent.

I approve.

Looks like I lost my title. dont worry though, it will be regained ;)

so that huge tank will belong to a single pair of pbass sometime soon huh>? how bad is the fighting? do they fight with the other fish in there or mostly with eachother?

either way the tank is one of the best on this site, and the fish are top of the line too

haa they dont fight at all....bicker a bit but no fighting.....what I was meaning by a slugfest was they are getting big and will be bumpering off each other soon enough.....I would rather have a pair that can move about without hinderance;)

Those monos are hot as ish man. I like the pic with you standing next to the tank. It really gives something to give a size comparison. I never knew they were so freaking big and massive.:headbang2
