What are you guys doing to keep your macro algae alive in your sumps? I bought some chaeto to put in my fuge on my 75gal and its turning clear which I am assuming means its dying. I have enough light for it and its an established system. I have never used it and I went out on a whim and bought some the other day.

If the chaeto is turning clear I'm thinking that lighting is the issue. Either too much or too little. What exactly are you using for light?

I'm using a 30" long Marineland single bright LED strip over my sump. I also have a 21" long fourescent shop light in it. My water parameters are all normal SG: 1.025, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 5-10, phosphate 0, calcium 420. There is 600gph of flow going through the sump as well

thats too much light maybe. run either or, and for 8-10 hours a day (opposite of when your DT lights are running). chaeto does not require heavy lighting.

also, post a pic of your fuge w/ the current light setup/chaeto so we can see it. that might help the most

I agree, probably too much light. What temperature is your tank and could you post a pic?
