  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thanks guys. i raised the intakes today, and kinda tweaked the intake for the fluval canister to go kind sideways, i enjoy the look of the sand,, one thing i gotta mention is that my JD now is very light in color, almost pale, i dont know if it's stress from the change, or maybe just his reaction the the color of his new suroundings,

looks great.

dempsey is definitely a male and the convict is definitely a hybrid between that and a hondurn redpoint.

Look at its gills in the first pic ( if thats your convict) and you can see the blue. Also you can see the faint blue of them in the second pic of it all the way past the jd and RD pics.

1st convict pic is diff from the rest,
i have two small cons in there,

In my experience JDs have changed color to match substrate more than any other cichlid. He will likely remain a paler color to blend in more with the light sand.

i agree JD looks male to me. no clue on the RD right now. the con in the open looks male, and dunno about the one hiding under log.

i think the new look is nice. so bright and white.

as for the filter issue, just go to the LFS and get prefilter sponges.

BTW, what kind of sand is that? sorry if i missed that answer somewhere.

A lighter substrate tends to make most fish appear brighter/lighter, some even washed out.
