You should be able to score some nice pieces at the river. I should mention however, stay away from coniferous woods. It contains phenols which no amount of soaking/maturing will remove. It's quite easy to differentiate from other deciduous trees by the wood grain.
I'm gonna break off a few of the smaller branches and probably go find some thicker pieces tomorrow. But for stumps or anything I'll need to come back with a truck. A trip to visit the grandparents isn't really the BEST time to driftwood hunt... Especially when the car ur driving is a Civic... But i just can't help but look at a piece and say: oh if i just take this branch off, that'd b perfect...
My newly collected wood! I'll need a truck to get some bigger pieces. But here are a few of the ones i found today and yesterday. Couldn't help but get some madrone. So... Anyone know how to get bark off a tree without sanding it?
