Mag 2400 and 1800

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I noticed an outfit selling all kinds of pumps and filters...all of them factory returns...anyway there are a LOT of quiet one pumps in all sizes and all of them had the same complaint...excessive noise. There were a few other brands as well in lesser numbers but I can't think of them off of the top of my head. If I think of it I'll look up the outfit and post it on this thread.

My mag 24 is almost silent...

Hey, just wondering if you ever got your 9000's? I just got a Quiet One 9000 since the specs looked so good but it is annoying as heck with a loud buzzing sound. I checked that the impellor wasnt broken and properly seated. After searching reefcentral I found many saying the same thing, so curious what your results were.

Yeah I got them...it does have a buzzing noise, but compared to my mag 2400 and 1800 its a hell of a lot quieter. Plus it gives me more gph at a longer head.

So all in all I'm pretty happy with it.:D

Thanks for the reply. Hmmm, now its decision time. I got the 9000 at drsfoster&smith and they will give me a full refund. And for high flowing pumps the Sequence Snapper is only $50 more and seems to be rated very quiet and I've yet to hear one bad thing, but the QO and Mags have a mixed bag of opinions with a lot of failures. Of course I'll have to re-do plumbing for the third time (started out with 2X QO 4000, quiet but too little flow) as well as drill my sumps and buy a couple bulkheads since the Sequence isnt submersable... arghhh! I just want a pump thats quiet, has a proven track record and wont fail after a year, and decent flow in my 240g.
