I bought a mag drive 2400 in December and it has always sounded loud and slight churning/grinding noise, anyone else have this prob? I hate it, When the water level is low in my water change barrels, it has no power to push the remaining water up 5 feet to the tank. A little bit of air gets in the 1 inch line and it stops pumping. Why oh why is this happening?

Yes brand new in the box, are these supposed to be silent of a slight hum or what? I am used to Rio pumps. Or as I like to call them, library pumps

have you taken apart yet to make sure ther is no debri in it. just cuz its new doesnt mean the factory is perfect. it sounds like it is strugling to run at the proper rpm.

call/bring to the store you bought it from. ask them if they can change it. or call Danner MagDrive company itself. i have a mag 24 but i'm returning it. it's too powerful for my 180 gal tank. i went for the mag drive 18 which i tested and it's just perfect. their is a little bit of sound but i could barely hear it. one more advise... try to screw it tight before using it if you intend to buy another one. seems the factor did not screw it tight enough. mine has a very very very small moist of water when running, i'll be calling the manufacturer and ask their opinion if they can't resolve it i'll ask for a full refund. let us know what happens next. :D

did u clean it realy good.

No need for me to clean it because it is always in perfect water in my water change barrels. And I also heard that mag drives tend to leak so its best to keep them submerged. I found that out after I bought it. Oh well. Well, i will let you know what happens when I call mag or maybe return it for a better brand.

oh just woundering. i have no idea, do they have any lube to lube the pump thats safe for the fish

are you saying it has a big chance to leak? i am calling the store i bought it from and have it replaced. i won't do any tightening on it since i think it's all tight and well done. but a very very very small moist/leak would be better without.:(
