How are magnum 350s? They seem to be fairly popular, at least in the craigslist ads I see. I'm looking for another tank, and am wondering if they are good filters. For a 75 gallon tank, btw.

one more thing- would it even be enough to filter a 75 by itself? I've got a fluval 404 and a sump on my other one, so this would be a ton less.
thanks

You can effectively filter a 75g tank(mine was actually a 72g bowfront) with a magnum 350. Just fill the median container with ehfisubstrat or biomax. Continue using the blue filter sleeve and change or clean the sleeve once a month.

I used one for nearly a year, it was a great quite filter. Should be more than enough for a 75.

I have 2 magnum 350's that have been running over 2 years with no problems at all. I would say it would be enough for your 75gal, depending on stock levels. It is rated at 350 gal/hr so it will circulate your tank approx 4.6 times/hr.

im not a fan of magnum 350 nore ever use it...it's seem lame canister and worst canister out there IMO.

I have two and hate them! I have always had problems with them.
One that I had got sand in it from the piranhas freaking out and stirring up sand. Since the impeller in on the bottom the sand got in the impeller, stripped the magnet and ate a hole in between the plastic canister and the impeller. I'm surprised it didn't ruin the motor! I think it a badly designed canister filter!

like some said it might make a good water polisher or gravel vac.

I have owned 2 for several years and never had a problem out of them. I had to replace the top o-ring seal on one of them after about 6 years and that cost me 2.59. So I think they are a good filter. i also use the sleeves and fill the inner chamber up with bio-media.

I'm surprise with a website I saw before they rank this filter no.1 (not magnum's website) I still have one right now not using it though but did not have any problems with it for years.
