is it bad to run the water polisher all the time? i have 2 emp 400's and just use the mag 350 on my under gravel filter.

72g btw

I have a magnum 350 and a cfs-4 on my 150 and i run the micron cartridge all the time....ONLY issue i have with that is when the micron starts plugging up, i get those annoying microscopic bubbles coming out of my outlet tube...I take it out, rinse it off, throw it back in, and its good. That filter polishes like a champ

It's actually not a bad idea to have 2 micro filters to rotate. That way you have zero down time.

To clean them bad boys, 1 part bleach, 5 parts water. Let them soak for 2-3 hours. Rinse them off, dry over night, good as new.

I would also get that sump up and running to create a good bio filter before I run the micron's and the Magnums. Or else the Magnums might act as a semi bio themselves because so much stuff will be sticking to them. This is something I have learned with my new tank, you do not want too much mech filtration starting out, if so when you remove it and clean it (which is bi-weekly on a tank that size) you have to start the filtration cycle all over again.

But once you get the sump to cycle the tank, your set to run them Magnums/microns all out.
:D
