I just got a new mag 250 and its spewing out air bubbles like its going out of style. Am I just jumping the gun and need to give a a few days or is this a problem? Its been a full 24 hrs already and the bubble are not going anywhere. I also see that when I open the top its not completely full so I refill it and the bubbles go away. Then a minute later the bubbles are back and when I open it again its half full again. Any suggestions to fix this?

You're introducing air somewhere
Bubbles are normal and should blow off in 10min
Take the O-ring off and make sure it looks fresh
There's a leak on the inlet side allowing air into the system

I thought the same thing and removed both the main O-ring and the inlet tube and re-applied it about 5 times and it still does the same thing. Ill take it all apart again tomorrow and see what happens. Thanx for the quick response.

Sorry forgot to ask is this used?
@new it's just a loose connection
@used you just need to fully disassemble/reassemble
to get familiar with the unit and fix the same loose connection
These Mags are good quality filters
There Predecessors have only improved on ease of use

Don`t fret it.
Give it some time.
Next to impossible to fill the filter, displacing all the air with water and move it around.
You always have some air in it after taking it apart.
Mine stops bubbling after a few hours.
No biggie.
If it really bothers you, try shutting it off and giving it a few shakes.
Sometimes just turning it off, wait a few, and turn it back on will work.
It`s normal for them to act the way you describe.

Mine will randomly spit a bunch of bubbles. Goes away after a few minutes but happens completely at random where my 20gal will just all of a sudden be full of bubbles. I usually just don't worry about it.

:iagree:

No matter what I do it just keeps bubbling. I checked all the connections and they seem tight. I at a loss. I wish I could forget about it but I also have it on a 20g. The bubbles consume the entire tank. It sucks. Ill wait a few more day since I dont know what else to so at this point.

you can look for the manual online if you dont have it. I got a used magnum 350 a few weeks ago and could not figure out what I was doing wrong until I read the startup instructions. before u plug it in fill it half way with water, then connect hoses and open valve, and after it fills with water turn on for 15 seconds, then shut off and all air bubbles should evacuate out the intake. after all bubbles stop then turn it back on and you should be fine. NEVER forget the o-ring btw, i did once during a cleaning and it exploded all over my living room lol. its a great filter though

I recommend the XP3 next time for it's ease of use
