Just picked up a "blue Mahseer" but I can't find ANY info on it at all..

I am wondering what temps they can tolerate, as I would LOVE to put him with my koi.

I did a google search and couldn't find any info on this fish must be pretty rare.

I believe only certain ones can tolerate the cold. Mine are from India and I have them outside but I live in California. Do you know what sp you have?

Guy here on MFK that had him said he was a "blue masheer"- Here is the picture of him that the guy sent me. I haven't taken any of him yet.

Looks like ones from Thailand.

looks exactly like a oversized fat minnow! LOL.

Probably Neolissichilus stracheyi, a mahseer that has been popping up quite a bit lately. A tropical fish, and not suitable to keep in cold temps. Probably would do very well over the summer in a pond, however.

That seems like the one I have.

What would a decent price be for a 6"?

I believe TUIC is selling them right now at 5" for $50, so anything around there seems to be a good deal. They are great fish; my group of them is pretty fast-growing, eats anything, and is non-aggressive. Their color really lights up as they grow.

I got this one for $40- and I'm pretty happy with him so far.

What temps would be good for this guy? Tropical to me is 76F and up.
