Mahseer! I have one :)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I do keep a bunch of them, dont really know bou't your area temp. For mine they are quite easy to keep. I have a 2-3 blue in the bunch the rest are mostly red. You'll need to add a wave maker in your tank / pond, they like it a lot.
Cheers

Here's a pic of my lot.

Well, what temp is your pond water?

That pic is Tor tambra, or Tor tambroides, if I recall. There is a lot of nomenclatural uncertainty from the hobbyist level regarding mahseers, but I have not seen any pics of bigger N. stracheyi that resembled that particular pic.

I'm sure the mahseer people will be lined up to pay copious amounts of green when a vendor finally gets T. tambra in stock. I certainly will be. :D

I guess around 26 - 30 deg, did not really bother to measure it, anyway its around 3ft below ground level, so I believe the temp will be quite constant even at most time of the day its under the hot tropical sun shine.

Celsius?

This is Thailand's Tor Tambroides or Thai Blue Mahseer. It has browny golden scales on the upper side and the fin color is bluish. It really a beutiful fish.
