Does anybody here own/has owned a Maine Coon cat.
Because i am looking for somebody who has experience of these fascinating animals, because we are thinking of getting one.

Heres the story why we want another cat. See the cat we have now (Bono) was hit by a car a few months ago and they had to remove one of his hind legs. Because of this we made the decision to make him an indoor cat (before the accident he was an outdoor cat). Now it looks like he is getting bored in life and needs a friend (even though he is the central of our family and gets more attention than he needs) to play with.
Bono is just a regular cat, not a Maine Coon just to make that clear.

So we are floating the idea of getting another cat, me and my dad went to a cat show about a year ago and were completely in love with the Maine Coon cats there.

I have a couple of question for people who have experience in these cats:

Are they good indoor cats (calm etc.)?

Is they're diet much larger than a regular cats diet?

Do they grow fast?

They are kind of just regular cats. They grow like regular cats. They do get a little on the larger side. Im more a fan of Egyptian Maus.

While I don't have one I have been around a few. All of the ones I have met have been huge and very laid back. They are a pretty easy going cat so I think they would make a great indoor cat.

Always wanted one and the wife loves cats, she just doesn't want a cat the size of a baby lion. LOL They are actually known as gentle giants and adapt to all types of house holds. They can be taught to fetch and walk on a leash. If I remember correctly Oddball got one a while back.
Here are a couple of photos for reference to potential size.

It's difficult to relate how ours acts since she's still a kitten. Our Maine Coon is an indoor cat along with a Mau and a siamese mix.
Right now, she eats the least of the 3 and is shooting past the other two in size and weight. At 10 months she weighed in at 11lbs 3oz while the 2 older cats weighed in at 7lbs each.
Here's a pic to show the size difference.

My Maine Coon mix, Yoda, is still a kitten and is already as big as his beast of a father.... I'll try to get a pic up in a little bit.
