I will definitely consider that when I go to buy a new one.

wow by all means though, with my oscars i think i might go with 3 ac110s or something. the foam turned almost black, guess thats wha happens whens i overfed them abit.

Had a little wake-up call the other day when the power dropped out.

When it came back on, I had one penguin 330 that didn't.......just needed a little scum removal from the impeller.
Good idea to have a regular cleaning regimen.

Thats exactly what I mean, just a little scum can slow your flow a lot.

two emp400s are great til the spraybars clog. i try to hella clean the filters once a month

A good scrubbing does the trick.

Yep, it does the trick and then some.... as for over filtering I have a ac110 and a Eheim ecco 2231 on a 29g bare bottom with only 2 small channel cats, and 1 1.5" red terror:grinyes:

After reading this thread yesterday I cleaned the little HOB I have on the 12G in my classroom (I'm a teacher).

As the OP stated, much better flowrate and the filter is now looking all spick and span.

Good advice!
