Things can and will go wrong. When I finally got time today to peel the tape on my new acrylic tank, I noticed 2 major cracks on the top panel. One near an overflow box was disconnected, the other bigger one spans across the back brace and lingers.

The tank was delivered to me on Friday, overall visual inspection looked ok that I didn't notice the cracks under the tape. I contacted the seller immediately but of course haven't heard back due to on a Sunday. I would image the tank can still hold water otherwise, but may bow since the center brace is compromised. Should I expect a replacement, full/partial refund, or having it fixed (if fixable) at seller's cost?

Also the thing on the third picture on the back panel, was it some sealant glue residual or another crack?

It was supposed to make my day but I guess it is what it is. Thanks all for your input.

that stinks .was it shipped ? if so go through there Insurance they have something called unseen damage if they give you a hard time have your Insurance
co give you a letter that they won't cover water damage. it sounds stupid but I did that on my wet-dry and 670 gallon tank and almost paid for it

What a mess. Youre now privy to a classic tank murder/mystery whodunit. Enjoy the next several months as the tank manufacturer blames the shipper all while repeatedly slipping you runaround questions in discreet efforts to flush a confession out of you...then theres the casual and taciturn approach of the shipping giant who will respond to none of your complaints in a timely manner. All the while you are tankless but there is hearsay that you are possibly receiving a replacement tank in anywhere from 3 to 77 weeks.

Best of luck. Shipping tanks can be a hassle. Its actually possible that tank was damaged during construction though. The builder couldve introduced too much heat into the acrylic when routing out those openings, weakening the panel in places so it cracked like that when being moved. I got a fijicube overflow box that was damaged like that and they never would replace it, just kept hinting that they believed i broke it.

I hope somebody makes this right for you soon and you have better experiences than i with it though.

is the last picture another crack or possibly scigrip 16 that was spilt onto the panel? if that's a crack i would say the entire tank needs a go over. if it was dropped or hit hard enough to cause that much damage other seams could be compromised. but acrylic is almost always repairable.

i would not put water in it,

some of the crafty folks can maybe sort a repair,

i'd look for refund from someone...

where did you buy it?

contact your credit card company and dispute charge if the give you problems

yeah it was shipped, the seller did mention I can make a claim 72 hours after receiving the shipment.

can you elaborate? Did you mean to have my insurance company for the house to give a letter to the seller?

That sounded awful. What was the outcome for your unfortunate case?

Yeah that was something I cannot tell for sure. Anyway for me to find if other seams are ok?
