My 10g tank is a horror film. Its one of those "don't look honey, it smells like sewage" blindfolds child. *screams* *horrified face* its got puke colored gravel which I picked out when I was like 7. I NEED to change the gravel out today. Is their an easier way to do this with fish and plants in the tank. I have a divider in it already and a powerful bubbler. The tank is 1 giant deadspot. It has every algae u can think of. LOTS of staghorn. *gags*. I am also looking to pick up a better filter (mines 20 years old POS aqueon or something) and maybe those nice marineland leds. Its on sale at amazon.

Yea that's what stinks about gravel.. literally...crud gets trapped in it 24/7. I use a square net and just scoop it, as long as you have bio media then u can remove all ur gravel cuz the majority or ur bb shouldn't be in the gravel.

Put fish in bucket
Put bubbler in bucket
Toss your smelly tankwater and scrub all algae off
discard puke gravel
Fill with new water and dechlorinater
put new gravel in there
Put fish back

why dont you know this its common fishtank maintenance everybody should know...

it's 10 gallons. What does that weigh with the water out of it? like 10 lbs? If that? Drain the water, take it to the nearest garbage can, and dump the entire contents out and clean it out in your tub. Sheesh, its not like you are removing 2" of sand out of a 300 gallon tank. THAT would be a pain.... This seems to be pretty straight forward... lol

This only works if you dont touch the filter media ect..... ive done this time qnd again when either upgradeing tank size or doing an overhaul. the key is to NOT touch the filter other then to move it/unplug it ect... dont clean it, change filter pads ect.... personally if its that bad ide just buy a new 10 gal for 10$ and xfer the fish, filter, ect over... buy a new filter and run it with the old one for a few weeks... remove old one.... completely new setup and little to no cycleing.

I would do this but my parents would SCREAM at me if I got a new tank even I was going to sell the old one. Just to give you an idea of absurdity. I was offered about 200$ of equipment for aquariums a month ago. A few miscellaneous hob's a big 500w heater, skimmer, couple rimless tanks. A full 5g setup. 10g stand. For free. Because they were moving. They were my neighbors and they knew me well. About 300 feet from my house. My parents would not let me keep it & they made me give it back after my neighbors drove all the way over and handed it to me. So I gave it back. So about a week later I asked if i could get a 6g and they said yes but I had to pay for it myself. "We dont accept free things" not even if i was offered 20$ just to take it off their hands. So I asked if I could just pickup their 5g setup they left on the street because they left a few days before. They told me no, you must pay for it. I was confused as hell. Why pay for it??? I can get it for freeee... But in my house free things are not accepted. That's what my dad told me. I asked him if he won the lottery what he would do and he told me he wouldn't take the money. He'd rip up the ticket. I'm not talking about giving it all to charity just no thank you have a good day sir.
