let heal by itself but scar would be ugly
if you'd like, cut the tail just to half then see/monitor how it heals

Did you just suggest he cut his Arowana s tail??

Add some salt, raise the temps a bit and do bigger more frequent water changes. It'll heal.

Well I was thinking to cut as well cause the mid point of the tails all messed up just scared the damage is so deep it won't grow back

Will never look the same and some of the tail won't grow back as the damage is too deep.

what i meant cut/trim the fin ray's not the whole tail
and yes , its common practices like do a haircut

well keep your finger cross bro ...
its quite severed esp the bottom part of tail, lost a chunk of meat. i'd say 50-50 it'd grow back
rest of the tail no worries ... it can grow back

Go on YouTube and search Uaru Joey. I think now he has a channel called King of DIY and look for his video about arowana tail surgery he shows you what to do how to do it and where to cut all he basically does is put the fish in a towel and cut his tail off he also had a progress video where the whole tail grew back better than before

EDIT: the video is called HOW TO: fish operation it's the one with the arowana lying down his channel name is The king of DIY
