Can anyone help assist me in making my own cichlid food? I found a few recipes online that include prawns, spirulina powder, peas, broccoli, vitamins. Recipe calls for pureeing these ingredients and adding them to knox gelatin. Once its all mixed thouroughly with no clumps adding it to ice cube trays.... I have all my ingedients and will be attempting to make this this weekend. If anyone wants to know where i got my ingredients and mini ice cube trays just ask. Thanks

look into adding fish oil and/or garlic.

I also saw that as well.. The vitamins ill be using are the Kent Marine Zoe and the Vita-Chem Freshwater... As for the dosage I'm not 100% sure yet. I need to see how much puree i end up with for one batch.

Let me know how it works out, i've been looking into doing this to, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Will do. Ill post my exact recipe i used and where i ordered my vitamins, mini ice cube trays, and spirulina at. Problem is im gonna have to use a blender to puree the prawns (full shrimp with heads and legs) with shells, and im not sure how that will work. i should of looked into food processors first.. a decent one that will puree costs between $150 - $200. Kinda steep especially if this doesnt work out too well.

you could always just behead and remove the tails off the prawns, can't mess up the recipe that bad, and the regular parts of the shell if thawed shouldn't jack up your blender too bad i wouldnt think

That must be a beast of a processor at $150-$200! I make soup in my blender i paid $30 for, and it liquify's vegetables if I don't watch it. Oh and if you puree vegee's I would squeeze them in a cheese cloth or something to remove the moisture, so its easier to get the consistency you are looking for with the gelatin.

Awesome .. i do have a smoothie maker and it crushes ice at ease ... Guess ill just use that.. i mean chunks of ice has to be harder to crush than the shells of the shrimp... ill definitely let you guys know how it works... thanks for the help !!
