Making a plexiglass tank

ok thanks, i wasnt sure if it need to be very thick just cause its a small tank
 
3/4ths of an inch... you could roll it down the stairs with water in it and it would be ok! (Exaggeration , sort of.)

Aquarium Height Sheet Thickness
1 to 12 inches 1/4 inch
12 - 18 inches 3/8 inch
18 - 24 inches 1/2 inch
24 - 30 inches 3/4 inch

well acorrding to what that little chart says i would only need 1/4in cause the tank is only going to be 7in tall. but im going to use 3/4in just to be on the safe side, and plus im going to use plexiglass not acrylic
 
1/4" is plenty thick enough for a 4 to 5 gallon tank. I've used 1/4" for my 90 gallon river tank that measures 72"L x 24"W x 12"H.

Btw, Plexiglass is Acrylic. Plexiglass is just the brand name.

You'll need to get some acrylic solvent cement to join the acrylic together.
 
I'd just buy one, you're going to use a lot of time and $, you could buy one just the same. May I ask, why acrylic?
 
i using acrylic because the hardware store around here dont sell glass, and the acrylic is cheap
 
how much is it there for a sheet that is 96 X 30.i need one for my monster tank that is going in my basement.a 260 gallon.not to big but the biggest one garf will let me build.
 
If plexi is cheaap start out with 1/4in it's going to be all you need anyway.

Peolpe here are using stearlite plastic 40gal bins without problems. :eek: :D
