I think you definitely should get a pleco. A royal (requires wood) or even a common. Maybe a few of the smaller ones too.

Not Royal pleco unless you want a foot high pile of poop every single day. If you go a whole week without sucking out the poop it will reach the top of the tank.....seriously.

Yes, they get very large.

Yes great algae eaters. And they dont poop like a horse.

BN should be fine, you could try yoyo/pakistani loaches, they're a lot more active then clowns, funnier and also faster. I loved mine dearly till he decided the carpet was a better place to reside..
