You could build a small 2x4 frame that would fit behind your stand and cover it in plywood to try an match the existing stand. You would need to brace it on the inside (2x4's) to connect the two "stands". On the top you could put a 36" x 6" piece of plywood on top of the 2x4 frame and brace that piece to the existing piece from under.
