And also does silica sand make it more alge or no? That is what the LFS said

Sand has no bearing on algae. If algae is going to grow in your tank it is going to grow regardless of what substrate you have in there.

algae needs:
1. nutrients
2. light

Having sand will not contribute to either of these.

Where did that come from?

I thought you'd just set the 125g on your dresser..Oh wait there's a 20g there isn't there? :D

Interesting choice of legs, get some more pics up...And does your buddy want to get rid of that chandelier? :naughty:

Take a vacation to the Boundry Waters Canoe Area in northern Minnessota. And not just for the sand. The place is F'ing awsome. You can get all the rocks you could ever dream of. The drift wood is unbelievable; beavers will even help you out (they get pissed if you take it from their home). Also there is a deposit of red slate by the road in Grand Marias (on Lk Superior). There is also an old lava flow on the edge of Lake Superior. I just found out that the local geologists know about it...and some bastard broke some out of it. And don't ask where I got mine :naughty:

And 400 years ago it was common knowlege that if you threw a bunch of rags into the corner of the room that the rags would make rats (spontanious generation).

You need to get your technical information somewhere other than that LFS. :banhim:

Brown algae aka diatoms, have silica bases cells, I think that is what he was talking about
