Making my 150g dream tank a reality

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have to agree with everyone else, the last set up is the best. But I also like the rock ledge.

I would love to have a tank with that footprint, mine is approx 51x22x22. Those few more inchs make all the difference in the world for the fish

I cannot wait to get this tank set up. I was just reminded it needs to be SOONER rather than LATER because my midas woke me up yet again! He's spitting sand into the Penguin 350 intakes again, they keep jamming. Argh!

Today I ordered a bunch of stuff (I mean a BUNCH), including:

- new Fluval FX5 on ebay, came with a box of Fluval Biomax, Fluval Prefilter, and 3-pk water polishing pads (which I probably won't use because I heard they clog really quickly)
- 5 feet of 5/8" vinyl tubing (for the purge valve on FX5)
- 2 liters Seachem Matrix
- 8 oz. Phosphate and Silicate magnet (treats 125g for 6 months-- I have a horrible brown algae problem here if I don't use this stuff)
- 2 Ecoxotic LED Panorama modules (8000K/453nm)-- I am really excited about these!!!
- Power strip with built-in light timers
- 3-pk. Filter Media bags
- 300W Visi-therm heater
- 3-pk acrylic-safe algae pads

I also stocked up on aquarium salt, Prime, Hikari foods, and bought a new API freshwater test kit. And my other pets will be happy to know I bought 20lb of bird food and 150 cage liners for my two parrots and a box of Greenies for my dogs. :D

I love making orders like this, even when they cost so much. It's like Christmas when those boxes arrive.

Please don't ask how much I paid for everything, because I won't tell! :)

I still need to decide on a 3D background, and I need to purchase extruded polystyrene foam to lay under the tank, and a rug or carpet scrap for under the stand itself. In my first post, there's a picture of the flooring which is tile. There's very slight unevenness among the tiles so hoepfully the carpet scrap will fix that.

I need to decide on a sand type. I hate play sand and like pool filter sand ok. Any other suggestions?

No matter what happens with the tank (Not being mean...) You will still have the most epic dog on the planet; A Corgi.

LOL thanks! I actually have two corgis! And my parents have one as well.

Here's a pic of my two:

sweet setup

Thank you :)

I definitely agree that Pangea and Amazona are the best looking. Congrats on the great pick up! I am sure you will do wonderful things with it regardless.
