Hi all

soon i will be getting a new 50USG tank with some fish that are quite shy.

i was thinking, would a shoal of medium level swimmers like danios make them less shy? when the fish get bigger they could prey on them. also it might encourage some picky fish to eat more if there are other fish readily eating.

so what species would be good for this?

i dont want to stress out my fish with too much activity and i dont want them to nip my fishes fins.

How about tetras? Would this idea work?

Thanks
Matt

what fish do you have in there?

Indo dat, rainbow snakehead, senegal bichir, lima shovelnose, butterfly fish and a BGK

these will NOT be kept in a 50USG tank for life, i am growing them on for a friend

Thanks
Matt

Feeders might help.
Also, don't give them any hiding spots, except for some plants. They can't be shy if there is nowhere to hide.

or give them lots of hiding places so they feel more secure and come out more.

just what i was thinking :nilly:

some fish are skittish no matter how long your there. One person suggested softer lights with not too many hiding places and it worked for them. This is a big problem for many tanks/species.
