Making nocturnal fish sleep at night and come out in the day

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yup blue led lights called moon light. Not all fish will come out put most will. Also make sure the tank is in a really low foot traffic area. My L18 has become very active with the lights on since ive moved my tank. He still gets spooked when I walk. He never came out during the day when I had the tank near my door

provide it with things to hide under, not behind. that way you can see it whenever, and it can see you. that way you become less of an unidentified threat and can be considered just another daily occurrence.
feed it just before lights on/off. that way it's more like staying/getting up a bit than getting woken up in the middle of the night.

He always comes out when i turn off the lights and get rid of the outside light but its a planted tank so i kinda have to keep the lights on for most of the day, and its in my room so i turn it off at night, hees getting used to the tank now and eats alot of lettuce at Night and sleeps and munches on driftwood during the day, he just chills and munches in his driftwood cave. Im getting used to the fact that it will just take time, hees definatly comming out more now

personally i say let nature take its course and don't try to mess-up the design, it has taken millions of years for fish to develop their habits and to change them is dangerous, the stress can cause much harm and it is better not to see a fish often than to see a dead fish, i say let nocturnal be nocturnal

After he gets used to his surroundings, he should venture out more. My loaches were the same way. Just give him some time and maybe throw in a few more places for him to hide to feel more secure.

Ya it's a different fish. Some people keep these in salt some in fresh some in a mix. Lol. This one has been I'm fresh water whole life as far as I know. I don't think the last owner feed it well though so i don't know if it will grow a ton or if they grow super slow. they say Max 12" right now he stays fat on guppies. Always has a fully belly.

Is the FW lion fish different than a "prehistoric monster fish"?
