My 12" Florida still only takes live but has learned to handfeed so I'm hoping it will take pellets or silversides soon.

Just wiggle the dead fish just under the surface.
Mine took it the first time i tried, and eats frozen fish since.

Wiggle the fish just above his snout and follow him around with it. I recommend using some sort of plastic spear while doing this as he will eventually get so annoyed that he mauls it to death.

I starved my gar two days before this worked, and it took me an hour of showing him the frozen food before he went after it.
