Shouldn't need to but if you want to be safe, not risk parasites, or not get snails there are a few ways. Potassium Permanganate is what I've read as recommended. Also sold as Jungle’s Clear Water. Or quarantine, if I remember correctly 2 to 3 weeks with no host will kill most aquatic parasites.
