One of my mircropeltes have a bit skin peeling on its body, dont know if it is some kinda disease or it is from when fighting for food, but i am just wondering is using Malachite Green safe for snakeheads?

It should be just fine but be sure that it is not a concentrated malechite (it will need to be diluted) and that you don't get too much excess in the tank water itself. You could use a in tank treatment that is similar i.e. melafix to heal up the issue but of course the melachite itself will be stronger. Hope this helps.

I do not agree to using meds without knowing the exact cause. What are your water parameters?

as lupin said , i would not just treat for the sake of it , have you got a picture of the problem , 9/10 snakehead with skin peeling is because they have caught themselves on something useally rocks of top lid or been fighting with each other , if that is the case i would not use anything other than melafix at half dossage , although all snakeheads are pretty good at healing themselves , melafix is all natural the is why this is my preferance , i do not like useing chemicals at all on any of my tanks unless it is a last resort

cheers col

I agree, i would try to avoid using any harsh meds on channa... and if anything, Melafix. which is all natural, as tropheus already stated.

This is for bacterial or secondary infections anyways. Now for treating external/internal parasites... what does everybody use for that?

Prazipro? Metronidazole? Maracide? Ick Guard II? Hex-a-Mite??

luckly i have never yet suffered in my channa tanks with and parasites , but when i used to breed wild african cichlids i used to use octozin for internal and parazin for external
