I wanted to share a few videos I caught of my malawi trout spawning earlier. I have grown out most of these guys from f1s except for the male. About a month ago I picked up a wild caught male from Germany (The male in the Video). He proceeded to kill off all of the other f1 males I had and left all the females alive I have around 10 total now. He is a smart one I think lol. Anyways for any malawi cichlid lovers hope you enjoy the videos, he is a stunner. You also get to watch him attack a catfish hoping for an easy meal of caviar. He is pushing 10 inches right now and I hope he closes in on the 12 inch mark soon and then the 15 inch mark.

Great vids. The male seems a bit overwhelmed with all the curious tankmates. Have any eggs survived?

Thanks and yeah he did the problem is other then the catfish. Whenever I get my hands near my 500 gallon tank all of the fish in there think its feeding time. So when I was filming the Malawi trout breeding the other fish thought I was going to feed them lol. Once I backed off and let them do their thing the other fish left them alone.

Nice footage. The Champs is on my top five list of favorite African cichlids.

That's great! I had a cat fish that would do that to my smaller fish. It's good to see the boss (male) flex his muscle.
Yeah its funny to see the Angelicus catfish today he has scratch marks all over his body that are healing and a couple of gashes. The catfish is around 5 to 6 inches himself and thinks he is tough lol.

Yeah they are one of my top five to. I have 2 species of Rhamphochromis though and those are my top two. I have rhamphochromis essex and rhamphochromis longiceps. They are actually the most peaceful malawi I have surprisingly lol.

One of my fav fish.

I had a Rhamphochromis before but I don't remember which one it was.It also was peaceful. The champs and Emperor cichlid top my list.

I have a F1 8" male champ that's just starting to color. Had a 10" champ last year but died from an infection. I have a 8" male Rhamphochromis that I've had for 3 years ever since I set up my 220G all male peacock/hap tank. He is the most peaceful fish in the tank. My favorite though is my 10" Buccochromis Rhoadesii.
