Tor Tambroides- Thailand/Malaysian mahseer, this mahseer was one of the most expensive mahseer it fetches up to RM 6000 (1421.21USD ) per kg due to their plant based diet and edible scales, The local name of the Malaysian mahseer is "Empurau" (Sarawak Local) and ”忘不了“(Chinese) (meaning unforgettable bcz many people ate this fish and their taste in unforgetabble), the most expensive breed of this species is a breed called short body emerald, the reason of this breed was so expensive was because it was rare, another expensive breed was the A grade semi short. Tor Tambra- Red mahseer or Java mahseer was a close cousin of the empurau it fetches up to RM900 (214 USD) per kg, the red mahseer are used to thought to be same species like the empurau, it is now endangered due to overfishing and river pollution, although it is caught for food, yet it is also another popular aquarium fish in southeast asia.It is found in the Malay peninsula, Thailand, Java and Indonesia. Tor Douronensis- Semah mahseer, this mahseer was thought to be a synonym of the red mahseer and Empurau but now classified as a species, the semah mahseer was a rare fish in Malay peninsula only discovered in 1999 , Semah mahseer was mostly found in the Sabah province, other range of this mahseer include Southern Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia.
