nice piece, here's my malaysian driftwood. it measures about 36" long x 22" high x 21" wide, it's still leaching a little as you can see, but i couldn't presoak because it wouldn't even fit in the tub completely. i paid $70 for it but i got a deal because i also bought around 160lbs of gravel and a 120lb rock the same day.
Very nice DDriftwood Bro...I like the natural errosion look to the end grain...and a great price as well...
Did you have to have it shipped in for 70 bux? or was it on the showroom floor?

I went to a place called GRANITE rock in Monterey Ca. for my substrate. I bought it in bulk right from the hopper to my Pick-up bed, 250lbs for 46 bux, and change.
1"-2" round river rock in black. I was very happy with that price, and I just pressure washed it right in the pick-up truck bed. Drained it on a slope and bucket'ed it right to the tank...

I have a long hot water hose I can run from my hot water heater to the pressure washer. I'll blast it (my driftwood) with hot hot water, then soak it in a barrel I have, just for this kind of thing. (made and aged Catappa leaf black water in)...I can't see failing to de-chlorinate the water first, before the soak. Mainly to be sure that there is nothing that got onto the wood accidentally, that could nuke my fish...

I kinda like the light tea-colored water as long as it isn't murky...

i bought it at a local store.. it had a price tag on it with washing instructions so it was a piece they are getting from somewhere, they had a lot of them all different sizes, mine didn't have the tag because it had been ripped off but the lil zip tie thingy was still on it, pieces of similar size were around $150 to $170. i was moving everything to my 150 gallon so i bought a new fx5, the gravel, huge rock, all the bio media for a little over $400. i can see if i can find the washing instructions if you'd like. i love the malaysian driftwood, sinks right off the bat but it is kind of a soft feeling wood, i'd be sure not to get too close with the pressure washer, i just rinsed mine really good, but i left it in the tank 2 weeks before adding all my fish just to be safe seeing how i couldn't soak it. if ya want a picture of the whole tank or a closer one of the wood let me know.

nevermind, called my lfs before he closed and he said the tag says to let soak for 48 hours and dump water and repeat untill no discoloration in water, or to boil it for 15 to 20 mins and most of the tannins will be taken out. the tag also says the tannins will soften the water.
