in the wild i have heard that the red isletas are much more read because of their diet. it has a lot of beta carotene, so in captivity they lose a lot of the color, and very nice fish by the way.

XR, hook me up with a female.

my midas needs a biotch to, he's bee craving some booty forever now, he told me so lol.

Thanks guys

canada's a long holla from where i'm at, if you were closer i'd help you out, i really don't need this one.

Then again, not all barred's are as red as yours either. Just took a couple shots of my Red Isletas... still quite young, but not bad looking either.
I will say that you got some nice looking fish!

Do these Red Isletas have thier breeding dress on?
My male looks more like the one in the first post, the red color
comes and goes, and his bars are not as dark. He is fed krill and other foods rich in carotenes

Yes, they are with a batch of fry at the moment which I just took out yesterday. I think they are getting ready to breed again...
I've got a pair of barred Midas too that are setting on eggs soon to be wigglers... The female is really nicely colored. The barred's come from House_64's breeding that he made from wild fish that he got from Rapps.

She is watching over/ protecting her batch of eggs/wigglers that you can see near the back of the pot on the bottom. Thats what they use to breed in and lay their eggs.
