When I had them I moved them outdoors for the summer in a 5'x4'x6' cage that had direct light in the morning and evening. I spayed the cage twice a day with water and gave them a large swimming tub. The pen contained lots of branches and live plants to hide and climb on. They also had a large area to bury eggs in. I gave them a lot of crickets, veggies and wild caught grasshoppers (I lived on a horse farm so we had lots of unsprayed fields to catch them in). This setup seemed to work good for me. I had 1.2.0 Plumes. In a joining cage roughtly the same size I kept 1.3.0 Basiliscus vittatus that I hatched eggs from as well.

When it passes them are there shell fragments left, or can it digest them?

So I take it that where they originate from these snails are in abundance?
Is this their primary food?

Thanks.

when he crashed the shell then he somehow turn the snail and just get the meat but sometime I can see some shell goes in ..but with no prob..yes his primary food is snails .. I can snails.for.really good price..frozen in the bag for 50 -80counts for $3 ( in the asian market) this will last u a bout 2 weeks to 1 month but of course live one will cost u around $3-4 each in the fish store..I get it for $1 each. live one is cool to feed ...he just go nuts...the smell of fresh food... if u drop the snail in the water he will dive in and get it ..really cool!!!..once in awhile I'll give him live snail because of parasites and other stuff....I try to limit live food..... u can also give crawfish ,shrimp, pinkies once in awhile...I feed mine every 2-3 weeks 1 pinkie...and I just starts giving him ground lean turkey meat about 1 every week...I ASKED the ZOO and found out what they feed THEIR CAYMAN LIZARD....BUT MOSTLY APPLE SNAILS EVERY DAY WITH CALCIUM AND VITAMINS...but giving him diffent food the way to go..JUST MY OPINION and experienced... and he is doing great...interesting lizard:)I'm glad I got him or her...still need to sex find out what sex..Im think it's male. I hope that help u:)
