Rick Rules, he is gorgeous, just curious, what do you like about Beani Cichlids.

That male is absolutely gorgeous. This species would be so much more popular if people actually got to see adults. They can be quite bland when young, but give them some time and they blossom. Great job with him. How big is he now?

It's not just the coloration, it's the fact that they're a pain in the butt to keep even as adults because they can bloat easily and so can only be kept in species only setups.
 
Solo tanks aren't a bad thing IMO. And bloat is easily avoided given the proper diet. There are plenty of fish that are way more fragile than beani that are successfully kept all the time. I for one like a little challenge.;)

Wow Ruck Fules He is beautiful :) I had few, not quite that big, I like the looks and the aggressiveness, although the down side is they can not be in a community tank, because of the potential bloat problem... But yeah I can see why someone could love Beani :)
