Male behavior ?s

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hell of a jing kang bro. Well spent $50. With streamers like that it is a male for sure. Breed him with whatever you can. IMO any type of parrot, red texas, or red devil or midas will produce some interesting frys.

Fish Freak, it looks like snot, kind of opaque. I swore I saw it come out his male part, as it was extended quite a bit at the time, but it happened quick so I can't be certain. He seems fine and eats like a pig still. No more blobs in the last couple days. They all occured in about 48 hours.

You're probably going to want to quarantine him and treat him for parasites if you saw something like that come out of him. There is this stuff called prazipro that works good. Most fish stores usually carry it. It's not uncommon for flowerhorns to get parasites like this, they tend to have weaker stomachs than purebred fish.

Would it be better to soak his foods in meds rather than medicate the tank? Any other products you recommend in case there is no prazipro? I have some neomycin on hand but nothing else.

to be honest I haven't dealt with a lot of parasites or anything like that so I haven't tried much. The guys in the sickness/disease section could probably name off a whole bunch of stuff for you to try.

I soak meds in food... ALL FH SHOULD BE DEWORMED! As soon as you get your FH you should go through a deworming process for sure... I myself use Fenbendosole... You can get it in powder for at a vets office. I use the stuff for felines... Wet the powder to turn into a paste or thick milk and soak pellets for 30 min or until meds r all soaked in. Do a big w/c first. Feed your fish the medicated food for 3 days straight. Skip 2 or 3 days and repeat. Then no food for a week. After treatment do another 50% waterchange and go back to normal feedings...

Thanks for the advice guys. Really appreciate the comments too. Treatment starts tomorrow. I'll update on his progress. He's a lot bigger than the pic already and getting more red in him, I'l see if I can catch a good pic this weekend.
