Maybe getting him into a better tank with filtration will help, a 5 or 10 gallon with some kind of filter on it, then you can dose as you need to with epsom salts etc. because you'll know how many gallons you have. I honestly can't see keeping anything in a bowl. Hope he makes it ok, send my best.
