Male Bichirs (Senegal)?

Has anyone ever found a male available in the trade? All I've ever found are females - as determined by the number of dorsal fins.

If that's not the method of sex determination, then I've been given incorrect info

Its not the dorsal fin, you need to look at the anal fin, if its thick then its a male, but hard to tell when small.

Anal fin to determine sex. As for the bichir gender. I've bought many/kept many bichirs(50+) in the past, but I've only had maybe two to three male bichirs.

Male have thicker anal fin compared to female.

In my 17 bichirs now i think i have four male.

Yes, get a clear picture of her anal fin for us.

I have 4 bichirs. One is male. One is undetermined as s/he is too small yet.

I have always heard that but if you nothing to compare it to its kinda hard. With the pics it makes more sense. The anal fin is more filled out .

Both of my sens are females, maybe males are a more rare occasion?

I was able to determine that the larger one is definitely female, and, if he's old enough to actually tell, the smaller one is male
