This male ray was attacked by another male who badly beat him up and chewed his claspers off. This happened a month or so ago and this is an updated video. He is approx. 4 years old. I like his pattern and want to use him to breed with, but concerned he may not have the "tools" to get the job done. Has anyone ever had this happen before (to this extent) and did the claspers completely grow back and / or did the male successfully mate / produce offspring?

Sorry this is the only video I have of him.

Ive had my males fight before but never chewed claspers that badly... You would have to give him a shot at a female and see what happens...

From what i understand, most times when a ray gets a chunk of their disk or "flipper" bit off it grows back, when their tail gets a chunk bit off it doesn't. I can't find any info on whether or not claspers grow back. Anyone know for sure or have first hand info?

You might just become the first hand info for us all.
