male convict and female jelly bean have had babies

as far as i know there are 2 fishes called jellybeans. one is in fact a short body white/pink convict, and the other is a blood parrot (BP) that is dyed and or tattooed. i believe they also do a sort of "stripping" of the BP's color before the dyeing/tattooing process.

Oh, okay. That may explain my confusion here! Darn common names!

Right... a Blood Parrot is a hybrid, and then the way they make it a "Jellybean" is to dye or tattoo it.
no no no.... there are 3 types of parrot cichlids.... true parrots that occur naturally.. these play no part in either the blood parrot nor the jellybeans....

so a blood parrot is a mystery mix of fish...similar to the mystery of the flowerhorn....the blood parrots are believed to have severum and other fish incorporated into them...therefor they are hybrids....they are often tattoed and dyed... when dye faids they can turn orange, white, brown or pied...they get quite largeover 6"...males are almost always sterile like many hybrids...

The jellybean parrots are different.... they are shortbodied pink convicts.... they are often died as well ,but almost never tattooed.... the jellybeans stay small not bigger than 3" or so.... they are always white if not dyed and will always turn white when the dye fades....they are also fertile although i have had no luck breeding them....
hope this helps!!!
