I have Been trying to get my convicts to breed. The first time she laid eggsbut he had nothing to do with her bu she ended up just eating them. Now the second time he helped with everything and is defensive but after three days the eggs are turning white. What is going on? Could some one help.

They First time they were in a 20g now they are Now in a 100g 6 foot with 3 oscars, a green terror, Jack Dempsey, and a geo running on a sump and weekly water changes.
it seems that the convicts are the dithers of the tank. Try putting them in the 20 gallon again with some other dithers and see if it works.
The male is 3.5" and the female is 2.5". The oscars ignore them cause they are swimming at the tank. The green terror is about 2.5 inches. The Jack and geo are about 3.5. But the geo, Jack and terror stay on the other side of the tank. The convicts have their own side and if any one comes over he chases them off.

How can they be dithers if they are the ones that chase off everyone else. They have their side of the tank made to how they like. They beat up my Jack, geo, and green terror. When they were in the 20g the male convict had nothing to do with her and the eggs died then too
