I have a 10 gallon planted tank. I have several fish in there, including 2 male guppies and 2 female guppies
my brother has a 10 gallon tank with two male guppies
i got to female guppies so the males would stop chasing eachother.. i ended up finding a baby guppy in my heavily planted tank
i was shocked i found it and caught it
i put it in a plastic tank with a really cheap heater and an air pump
no filtration
im planning on raising it.. but the other female seems pregnant.. should i put it in the baby tank so it lays eggs in there?
what should i do
i was thinking about putting it in my brothers tank

guppys dont lay eggs, they are live bearers. That means that they will give birth to free swimming fry. So you can put the female in a breeder net until she gives birth and then take her out or else she will eat the fry
you can put the preg. female in the baby tank but she will prob eat the fry that you have in there now and when she gives birth to the new fry take her out asap b/c she will eat them as fast as she can lol

ohh.. ok thank you

Your best bet is to put it in the baby tank, put some plants on the bottom so fry have somewhere to hide. The birthing can take up to 3 hours or more depending on how full she is.After she 's done take her out, also they're known for different stages of fry within, so you might notice she's full again within a matter of a couple of days.If you want to keep the babies I would suggest getting a breeder tank. They're only like $7.00, and you put it right in the main tank. There's a grill on the bottom for the babies to fall through. There's also breeding nets, but baby protection from Mom is not as good.I don't suggest putting her in the male tank. All fishes will eat smaller fishes especially if not their own.Guppies however will eat their babies.

im my planted 10g i have guppies , and i hav plenty of fry. Is she large? she should produce 15-20 guppies if shes small and 20+ if she is 1 1/2" or so. What ive learned is that any method of trapping the guppy or puting the guppy somehwere else is an epic fail, the mother either stresses out from not knwing when she will give birth tright or she will just eat the babies. Ur best bet is to wait it out, you will find fry often in a heavidly planted tank. She will give birth every 2-3 weeks or so.

Guppies are prolific breeders.....You will have dozens of babies within weeks.....If I were you, I would leave the setuop as is.....Making sure the guppy tanks are well planted will maintain a happy breeding program.....

If they're releasing eggs, they're stillborn fry. The female would be stressed severely to do that.

My daughter has a 29 guppy breeder tank. She has at least 40 fry in there, they are hard to count since they can't stay still. She has 3 adult females and 1 adult male. It doen't seem like they are eating the fry and I think they can still get the fry through the vegetation if they wanted to. I do have a question if anyone knows though. Will the adult male eat just the male fry, or does it take a long time to sex them, because most of them are about a half inch long and they all look like females?

Ive bred guppies before. I had a few fancy guppies in a community tank. They had babies etc. I dont remember any being eaten though, the babies all hung at the top and they got bigger. I would leave them where they are.

To the other guy, I think you have to wait a little longer, its hard to tell if they are male of female at that size. What kinda guppies are they?

I forgot what type they were. I tried searching them and couldn't find them. I searched once before and found them. The male has an all red tail and mostly red body. The females have mostly greenish grey body with a black and yellow tail seems as the yellow shimmers. It seems like the name was jade something.
